The Agawa Canyon Tour Train is the rare day-trip rail experience that delivers proper wilderness — 184 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie into the Group of Seven landscape, with a two-hour stop in Canyon Park before returning the same day. The fall-colour edition is one of the most famous short rail trips in Canada and sells out months in advance.
Route description
Northbound from Sault Ste. Marie at roughly 08:00, climbing through the Canadian Shield on the historic Algoma Central line, descending into the canyon to arrive at Canyon Park around midday. Two hours of trail, viewpoint and lookout-platform time, then southbound return arriving back in Sault Ste. Marie around 18:00.

Best time to travel
The fall-colour season — usually the last week of September through the second week of October — is the headline. Summer departures (July, August) deliver wildflowers and waterfalls. The train also runs a winter excursion focused on snow scenery. Spring service has historically been limited.
